Kari is a founding partner of O’Leary, Shelton, Corrigan, Peterson, Dalton & Quillin LLC. Kari’s practice includes all aspects of personal injury litigation, including: catastrophic injuries; amputations; wrongful death claims; products claims; premises liability cases; auto and trucking accidents; all-terrain and utility vehicle accidents; forklift accidents; electrocution and power line cases; construction accidents; workplace accidents; and workers’ compensation. Kari also engages in a national practice of representing people injured as a result of pharmaceutical and drug products in mass tort litigation.

Kari has won verdicts, awards and settlements in multiple civil jurisdictions, as well as the Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation and the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. Kari has obtained millions of dollars for clients injured by the negligence of others throughout the states of Missouri and Illinois.

Kari has successfully handled many wrongful death cases across the state of Missouri. In March of 2016, after years of litigation in Stoddard County, Missouri, she obtained $1,200,000.00 for the family of a man killed in a side by side/UTV rollover accident.

Kari often represents those that are injured in serious auto and trucking accidents.  She recently obtained $1,177,000.00 for a client and her family after a roll-over car accident caused serious injuries, including a fractured vertebra.

Kari’s clients include numerous individuals whose injuries resulted in amputations due to electrocution, powerline or manufacturing accidents.  She has successfully resolved these complex cases against numerous large corporate defendants, including fortune 500 companies.

Kari often represents individuals injured as a result of drunk drivers.  These cases require specialized knowledge and Kari has extensive experience dealing with the unique challenges these cases bring.  She has consistently won the battles involved in these cases, and ensured her clients successful recoveries.

Kari regularly represents firefighters, police officers, EMS personal, as well as members of numerous different unions for workers’ compensation injuries.  Her medical background and expertise with the workers’ compensation systems in both Missouri and Illinois allows her to produce excellent results for those injured in the course of their employment.

In 2015 Kari was named a Missouri Super Lawyer which represents the top 5% of practicing lawyers in the state. She was again awarded this distinction in 2016, 2017 and 2018.   In 2014 Super Lawyers named Kari a Rising Star, which is a distinction granted to less than 2.5% of the attorneys in the state. Kari is also repeatedly listed in KC Magazine as a Top Attorney for Plaintiff’s Personal Injury.

The National Trial Lawyers, a professional organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from across the country who exemplify superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature and profile named Kari as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Missouri.  She was also named one of the Top 40 Under 40 Litigation Lawyers in the State of Missouri by the American Society of Legal Advocates, an invitation only organization whose members must not only have stellar legal credentials, but also have proven commitment to community engagement, leadership, and the highest professional standards.  In addition, Kari was given the Client Distinction Award by Martindale-Hubbell, which granted in recognition of an attorney’s dedicated service to their clients and awarded to less than 1% of the lawyers in the United States.

In 2004 Kari was appointed to the Missouri Bar’s Workers’ Compensation Committee, which is made up of judges and attorneys across the state.  Kari also serves on the Board of Kids’ Chance, Inc. of Missouri. Kids’ Chance is a not-for-profit organization which provides scholarships to children of workers killed or disabled on the job. In addition to being on the Board, Kari is a long-standing member of the Scholarship Committee, where she reviews applications for scholarship approval.

Kari was raised in St. Louis.  She comes from a medical family with numerous physician family members.  Both her father and grandfather had medical practices in the St. Louis area, and her father was the Chief of Family Practice for a large hospital system.  Kari’s brother is also a physician. Kari utilizes these resources in representing her clients that sustain serious and catastrophic injuries.

Despite having numerous physicians in her family Kari chose a different path and attended law school at the University of Missouri- Kansas City. While in school she was an Editor for The Urban Lawyer Law Journal, authored an article for publication, received an American Jurisprudence Award, was recognized for her student leadership and made the Dean’s List. After graduating Kari practiced law with a multi-state defense firm in both its Kansas City and St. Louis offices. This experience gave her firsthand knowledge of the strategies that insurance companies, and their lawyers, utilize to defend and deny claims of those that are injured.  Kari soon realized her true calling was to represent those injured by the negligence and wrongful actions of others, and in 2002 became a founding member of Onder, Shelton, O’Leary & Peterson, LLC.  In September of 2017 Kari and five other attorneys from her old firm left to form O’Leary, Shelton, Corrigan, Peterson, Dalton & Quillin LLC where they continue their well-established tradition and goal of helping those injured from dangerous products or the actions of others.

Kari is licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois and Kansas and is admitted to the Eastern and Western District of the Missouri Federal Courts. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Association for Justice.

Kari lives in St. Louis with her husband, who is also an attorney, their son and the family dog.
